Project: Place Smart Component
Customer: Precast Concrete Manufacturer
Problem:  Need to place "smart" components representing use of standard hardware components (part #, qty, location, finish)  used in precast connection  details.
Solution: Developed a placement tool to place smart material notations from a database that can be reported on. Provides a closed loop from database->placement->material extraction.

Highlights:

  • Database driven dialog to ensure 100% accuracy of part numbers
  • Places "Smart" components reported on in a material takeoff
  • Edit "Smart" components once placed
  • "Import" previously non-smart details

Technical Overview:

  • Direct ODBC database access through a Win32 DLL
  • All Dialog items populated from database
  • Tags populated from dialog items
